How A Senior Resource Panel Can Help Protect Your Blindside

If you get the chance to speak to a quarterback while he is being smushed into the grass upside down in a pose more appropriate for a game of twister, ask him about the importance of the blindside and blind spots.
But it is not just a quarterback issue. And unless you are an owl or in a car with cameras embedded all around, you live most of your life with all kinds of blind spots, both real and metaphorical.
What do I mean? Real blind spots are easy to identify. Like in the story of 15-year-old Alexa Longueira who was walking and texting one day when she fell into an open manhole.
A figurative blindside is much trickier to find. You are usually the last person to realize your blind spot, and it is typically pointed out crudely by someone else.
“Hey, you spend a lot of money on candles, and you’re mean to children.”
Being blindsided, even figuratively, can derail your or your family’s life entirely.
To ensure you and your loved ones are protected when facing the various blitz packages life throws at you, you must find and fill your blindside.
What are your blind spots?
Here are some questions that could help you find them:
- Do you have a financial plan for your life?
- Is there a primary care physician that you go to for regular checkups?
- Do have an elder-law attorney?
- Have you created an estate plan?
- Do you have an end-of-life plan?
- Do you have a home care plan?
Am I asking you too many questions?
If thinking about these things makes you feel like you have been blitzed or blindsided, you are missing some key teammates and some vital protections.
But do not panic — what you need is a senior resource panel. The good news is that there are some really talented and experienced ones out there that you can recruit immediately.
What are some key members of a good senior resource panel?
A physician, an elder-law attorney, a financial planner, and a home care representative and expert who would be more than willing to help you assemble and bring on your own senior resource teammates.
It is never too late to get a panel together, and it is much easier to do that you may think.
So if you are feeling the pressure and you are not sure what to do and how to do it, reach out to a local Preferred Care at Home location for a free assessment, consultation, and some extra eyes on your blindside.
