Questions About the Caregivers
Q: How are Preferred Care at Home caregivers selected?
A: Our founders have been providing in-home care since 1984, so we understand what makes a quality caregiver. All our caregivers are first and foremost compassionate people with a heart for seniors. In addition, every caregiver goes through a seven-step screening process, which includes criminal and abuse background investigations. You can learn more about that in the video below.
Q: Can I choose my caregiver?
A: You’re in control of who cares for you. Before services are started, your professional care coordinator visits you for a free home evaluation. The information he or she gathers is designed to help select your caregiver and make an ideal match-up. Then, we always advise that you have a special face-to-face interview with your potential caregiver. If for any reason this person doesn’t meet your expectations, a simple call to the office is all that’s needed to make a caregiver change. We strive for 100-percent client satisfaction.
Q: What happens in an emergency?
A: In almost 30 years of in-home care service, we’ve never left a client without care. Our 24-hour on-call personnel are ready to promptly provide that emergency replacement should the need arise.
Paying for In-Home Care
Q: How much do your in-home care services cost?
A: Our service fees vary from location to location. With our commitment to high-quality, affordable care, our live-in rates are generally half of what many other organizations are charging for their services. Please contact the Preferred Care at Home office nearest you for an exact price quote.
Q: How can I pay for long-term care?
A: We understand that care can be cost-prohibitive for some. To better understand payment options for in-home care, we’ve developed an overview on this topic. Please see our “Paying for Home Care” guide.
Q: What is the cost comparison between moving into a facility and remaining home?
A: With the average cost of facility care on the rise, many have found our services to be far more cost-effective than moving into a facility. Cost comparisons will vary from state to state and even county by county. Give us a call, and we’ll help you find the best solution according to your financial and health-care needs.
Q: Does Medicare cover in-home care?
A: Medicare covers acute, intermittent, short-term skilled care, usually after a hospital stay. We come alongside the Medicare benefits to deliver any long-term custodial care that may be needed. In the absence of Medicare benefits, we can also provide the necessary assistance required for you or your loved one to remain at home.
Q: Does Medicaid cover in-home care?
A: Many of our locations are eligible to provide services under Medicaid. Please contact the Preferred Care at Home office nearest you for additional information.
Q: Do veterans benefits cover in-home care?
