Merry Christmas from Preferred Care at Home!

“My hope for you this Christmas, is in the middle of a less than perfect day, you experience love, peace, and joy. ” Merry Christmas from all of us to you!

As I sit here writing this post, snow flurries flutter outside my window. My mind can’t help but wander to my favorite Christmas movie, “White Christmas”. Bing Crosby’s voice sings in my head, “I’m dreaming of a white christmas, just like the ones I used to know.”

I glance at weather.com, it’s forecast shows a 100% chance of snow for Christmas day with an accumulation of 1 to 3 inches. Now this girl from South Florida is more than a little excited about the chance of a real white Christmas. But regardless of whether or not it snows on Christmas day, I will have to intentionally fight to enjoy the moment.

Often, my mind is quick to move on to the next thing–cooking dinner, taking care of kids, entertaining guests. Without an intentional slowing down to enjoy the moment, the day is a blur of activity. Another reality of the day is the absence of my family this year. Having recently moved across country, not spending the holiday season with my own parents, brothers, sister, and nephews has been disappointing and lonely. I know I’m not alone in these feelings, as anxiety and loneliness are very common emotions that occur during the holiday season. But, experiencing a mix of emotions throughout the holiday season is normal and, I would even argue, healthy.

My hope for you this Christmas, is in the middle of a less than perfect day, you experience love, peace, and joy.  As Bing Crosby so eloquently sings it, “May your days be merry and bright, And may all your christmases be white.”

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
