Watching someone you love move into life’s final chapter is one of the hardest things a family can face. You want them comfortable, surrounded by family, and free from unnecessary pain. Preferred Care at Home provides non-medical end of life care in South Miami. We work alongside your hospice or palliative care team, so your loved one can stay home with dignity.
Our mission is simple: keep your loved one comfortable at home, and keep your family supported through our end of life care services.
Families facing a serious illness or terminal illness often juggle physicians, nurses, social workers, and their own jobs at the same time. We step in as the steady, non-medical presence in the patient’s home, so your family can focus on being present with your loved one.
Preferred Care at Home is locally owned in South Miami, and every caregiver is screened through our 7-step process. We match caregivers by personality, not just availability.
When you call, you reach the owners directly, not a corporate call center. Family members also get real-time access to schedules and caregiver notes through our Transparency Room portal.
Comfort care keeps your loved one calm and at ease as symptoms change. Our caregivers assist with bathing, positioning, and personal care. Pain management and other medical needs stay with your physicians and nurses, while we handle daily comfort.
Family caregivers carry an enormous emotional and physical load during a serious illness. Family respite support gives an exhausted spouse or adult child a break, while a trained caregiver sits with your loved one.
Once hospice begins, everyday tasks like dressing, toileting, and mobility can become harder for your loved one to manage. Our caregivers provide hands-on personal care that works alongside your hospice team’s medical plan.
A serious illness affects the whole family, not just the patient. Our caregivers offer companionship and emotional support to your loved one, and a listening ear for family members carrying the weight of this season.
Your hospice nurses, physicians, and social workers each visit on their own schedule. Our caregivers stay present between those visits and share updates, so your family isn’t tracking every detail alone.
Step 01
You call (786) 268-6706 and speak directly with your local owners, Natalie Caldwell or Ricky Greene.
Step 02
We visit the patient’s home to understand your loved one’s needs, routines, and your hospice team’s care plan.
Step 03
We build a personalized comfort care plan around your family’s situation and your hospice team’s guidance. This plan can flex as your loved one’s needs change from week to week.
Step 04
We match a caregiver based on personality, experience, and your loved one’s unique needs. Consistency matters, so we work to keep the same familiar face throughout care.
Step 05
Care starts, and you get Transparency Room access to schedules, caregiver notes, and updates.
Families across Miami-Dade and Monroe counties face similar struggles when a loved one enters this stage of life. This holds true whether they live close to South Florida hospitals or further from care.

Driven by Passion, Committed to Compassion

Natalie came to home care as a Registered Nurse with years in emergency medicine across South Florida. Working in the emergency department, she watched elderly people discharge from a hospital or skilled nursing facility and return within months, often because the right support simply wasn’t in place at home. That experience, and the outcomes she saw that didn’t have to happen, are why she is here.
She earned her Master of Science in Nursing and became a Family Nurse Practitioner, a credential that shapes how care plans are built at this office: around the whole person, not just the task list. Natalie’s role is overseeing client services and the quality of every care plan we develop. The clinical eye she brings makes a measurable difference, even in non-medical care.

Ricky Greene grew up in a Cuban-American household watching his mother provide full-time, unpaid care for his grandparents. She gave that care because that was how their family showed up for each other. Ricky built his career in long-term care operations because he wanted every family to have access to that level of care, not just the ones with someone who can give up everything to provide it.
His focus at this office is the caregiver side of the business: the hiring, the matching, and the oversight that determines whether the care actually works. When a family calls to say the caregiver feels like part of their household, that is the outcome Ricky works toward every day.

Brian Caldwell is Vice President of Operations. He runs the day-to-day side of the office: scheduling, caregiver coverage, and the systems that make sure the right caregiver reaches the right home at the right time.
Families rarely see the operational side of home care, but they feel it. Brian’s focus is on the details that make care dependable week after week, from consistent scheduling to the communication that keeps out-of-town family members in the loop.
We understand the needs of South Miami families and residents throughout the surrounding Miami-Dade County communities. Our office is conveniently located for families near Coral Gables, Pinecrest, and Kendall, so a caregiver is never far from your loved one’s home.

Palliative care focuses on relieving pain and symptoms and improving quality of life at any stage of a serious or chronic illness, including alongside curative treatment. Hospice care is a specific palliative care program for patients with a life expectancy of six months or less, once the family and physicians agree to focus on comfort rather than cure. Both approaches use a team of nurses, physicians, and social workers, and our caregivers can support families through either one.
No. We provide non-medical end of life care, including comfort care, personal care, and emotional support, while your hospice or palliative care team handles medical treatment, pain management, and medication. Our caregivers work alongside your physicians, nurses, and social workers so your loved one’s care stays consistent at home.
A hospice care team typically includes physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, and volunteers, each supporting a different part of the patient’s needs, including family education along the way. Some hospice programs also offer music therapy and other comfort-focused services as part of a well-rounded plan. Preferred Care at Home adds a consistent, compassionate caregiver to that team for the daily, non-medical support your family needs at home.
Yes. Most patients and families prefer receiving treatment and comfort care in the patient’s home rather than a hospital or residential facility, whenever that is medically appropriate. Our caregivers help make that possible by providing daily support, so your loved one can stay somewhere familiar, surrounded by family and their own belongings.
Many South Florida families have a hospice care team that visits a few times a week, but daily support is still needed in between. We provide compassionate care between hospice visits, including bathing, meals, and companionship, so your loved one is never alone. Our caregivers communicate with your hospice team to keep everyone informed.
Medicare’s hospice benefit typically covers hospice services once a physician certifies a terminal illness with six months or less to live, including medical equipment, medications related to the illness, and the hospice team’s visits. Medicare does not cover the non-medical, hands-on caregiving that families often need between those visits. Preferred Care at Home helps South Miami families understand how our services complement what Medicare’s hospice benefit already provides.
We offer flexible scheduling that starts at a 4-5 hour minimum, so your family can rest without committing to full-time care. Family respite support exists for exactly this reason, giving an exhausted spouse or adult child room to breathe. Even a few hours a week of extra help can ease the emotional and physical toll on your family.
Call (786) 268-6706 and talk directly with Natalie Caldwell or Ricky Greene. You don’t need a plan before you call. Many families reach out to us once a serious illness has progressed and daily care starts to feel like too much for one person to carry. We start with a conversation, assess your loved one’s needs, and build a care plan your family can adjust as things change.
