Peace of mind is hard to find when a parent living alone in South Miami needs help but refuses to leave the home they love. 24-hour care lets your family member stay right where memories were made, with a caregiver by their side around the clock. Preferred Care at Home of South Miami builds each 24-hour care plan around your loved one’s daily routines, personality, and needs.
Whether your family needs a few hours of support or full-time coverage, we adjust the plan as circumstances change. Reliable care and a consistent caregiver are our top priority, from the very first visit.
We have helped families across Miami-Dade County since Preferred Care at Home began. Our South Miami office is owned by Natalie Caldwell and Ricky Greene, and both stay closely involved in daily operations.
Every caregiver completes our 7-step screening process before ever stepping into a client’s home. We match caregivers to your family member based on personality and life experience, not just open shifts.
Family members get real-time access to schedules, caregiver notes, and updates through our Transparency Room. That means you always know how your loved one is doing, even from a distance. When something changes, our caregivers respond quickly and keep you informed every step of the way.
Our goal is simple: help your loved ones remain independent in their own home for as long as safely possible. Over time, the right caregiver feels less like a stranger and more like an extension of the family. Daily life feels steadier for everyone’s well being.
Some families are facing a serious diagnosis. Others are simply exhausted from managing care alone. 24-hour care keeps a caregiver in the home around the clock, on daytime and overnight shifts.
Your family member gets a familiar face every day instead of a rotating cast of strangers. That consistency matters when someone you love needs ongoing support.
We match each caregiver by personality and experience, so the fit feels less like hired help and more like family. Around-the-clock care is commonly used by families across Florida, and it often works out more affordable per day than families expect.
When bathing, dressing, or personal hygiene becomes difficult, personal care keeps your family member comfortable and cared for at home. Our caregivers assist with grooming, mobility, toileting, and medication reminders, adjusting the plan as needs change.
Older adults across South Miami stay independent longer with the right level of hands-on help. Mobility challenges often make everyday tasks harder than they used to be. Each custom care plan starts small and grows as daily needs increase, so your family member never receives more help than they actually want.
Loneliness creeps in fast for elderly people living alone, even in a lively neighborhood like South Miami. Companion care pairs your loved one with a caregiver who offers real conversation, emotional support, and someone to share a meal with.
That connection helps older adults feel less isolated and more like themselves. A caregiver might join your dad for a walk, a mahjong night, or a trip to a favorite local spot. Empty afternoons start to feel like something to look forward to again.
When grocery shopping, meal preparation, and light housekeeping pile up, home starts to feel like a burden instead of a comfort. Homemaker care handles those daily tasks so your family member can spend more free time on the things they enjoy.
Our caregivers prepare meals, manage laundry, and run errands throughout South Miami and the surrounding neighborhoods. A tidy, well-stocked home has a positive impact on mood, safety, and appetite alike.
Family caregivers carry an enormous load, and burnout happens when one person handles every meal, errand, and check-in alone. Respite care gives you a break while a trained caregiver steps in, even if you only need a few hours a week to recharge.
Care can start quickly, even on short notice, without the long wait lists common with subsidized programs. Taking time for yourself is not selfish. It keeps you able to keep showing up for the people who depend on you.
Memory loss changes daily life for the whole family, not just the person living with it. Our caregivers are trained to support safety, routine, and gentle engagement for elderly people managing Alzheimer’s disease or related conditions.
Keeping your loved one in familiar surroundings, with people and places they recognize, often helps more than any facility can. We work with your family to build daily routines that feel predictable and calm.
Some families need more than personal care and companionship. Preferred Care at Home was founded by a registered nurse. Chronic conditions often call for caregivers with specialized training beyond a typical home care aide.
When your loved one’s health needs shift, we build that specialized support into the same care plan, so nothing falls through the cracks. Your family gets one consistent point of contact instead of juggling separate providers.
Your care journey begins with a single phone call, and most families are surprised by how quickly a plan comes together after that.

Driven by Passion, Committed to Compassion

Natalie came to home care as a Registered Nurse with years in emergency medicine across South Florida. Working in the emergency department, she watched elderly people discharge from a hospital or skilled nursing facility and return within months, often because the right support simply wasn’t in place at home. That experience, and the outcomes she saw that didn’t have to happen, are why she is here.
She earned her Master of Science in Nursing and became a Family Nurse Practitioner, a credential that shapes how care plans are built at this office: around the whole person, not just the task list. Natalie’s role is overseeing client services and the quality of every care plan we develop. The clinical eye she brings makes a measurable difference, even in non-medical care.

Ricky Greene grew up in a Cuban-American household watching his mother provide full-time, unpaid care for his grandparents. She gave that care because that was how their family showed up for each other. Ricky built his career in long-term care operations because he wanted every family to have access to that level of care, not just the ones with someone who can give up everything to provide it.
His focus at this office is the caregiver side of the business: the hiring, the matching, and the oversight that determines whether the care actually works. When a family calls to say the caregiver feels like part of their household, that is the outcome Ricky works toward every day.

Brian Caldwell is Vice President of Operations. He runs the day-to-day side of the office: scheduling, caregiver coverage, and the systems that make sure the right caregiver reaches the right home at the right time.
Families rarely see the operational side of home care, but they feel it. Brian’s focus is on the details that make care dependable week after week, from consistent scheduling to the communication that keeps out-of-town family members in the loop.
We understand the needs of South Miami families and the surrounding Miami-Dade County neighborhoods.
We Serve:
Costs vary based on your loved one’s needs. 24-hour care is often more affordable per hour than shorter hourly visits once a full day of coverage is added up. Each family’s situation is different, so give us a call to discuss a care plan that works for your budget.
We are locally owned, and every caregiver is screened through our 7-step process and matched by personality. When you call our office, you reach the owners directly instead of a distant call center. We match experienced caregivers to your loved one based on personality, life experience, and work background.
Most families begin receiving care within days of their first call. We schedule a consultation promptly, build a care plan, match a caregiver, and begin services quickly once your family is ready.
Medicare does not cover long-term custodial care unless medical care is also needed. Many families assume Medicare pays for routine help with bathing, meals, and companionship, but that is not the case. Medicare covers home health, like physical therapy ordered by a doctor, not non-medical 24-hour care. Preferred Care at Home helps South Miami families understand these policy benefits so they can plan accurately.
24-hour care rotates two caregivers on set shifts, typically 8am to 8pm and 8pm to 8am, so someone is always awake and actively engaged. The schedule is built around when your loved one needs the most support, day and night.
Watch for trouble with bathing, missed medication reminders, skipped meals, and a growing reliance on one family member for daily tasks. If safety concerns are rising, or a family caregiver is nearing burnout, 24-hour care is worth a conversation.
Our caregivers are experienced and trained caregivers, including CNA and HHA professionals. Every caregiver completes our 7-step screening process before working with a client. For clients with complex health needs, we can also coordinate additional specialized training and medication management support with our nursing team.
We offer flexible scheduling that starts at a 4-5 hour minimum, so you can get a break without committing to full-time care. Even occasional assistance for a few hours each week gives family caregivers room to breathe.
Yes. Miami-Dade County and the Alliance for Aging offer information, referrals, and some subsidized support, though many programs have wait lists. For families who need help now, private in-home care is a comfortable and approachable solution.
