Asking for help is not easy. We understand the weight of that decision, whether you are worried about a mother living alone or struggling to balance your Boston commute with caregiving. Preferred Care at Home brings compassionate support right to your Framingham home, providing home care services that honor independence.
We’ve been helping families since 1984, bringing over 40 years of proven home care expertise to Framingham, MetroWest, and Greater Boston. Our locally owned location combines national experience with deep understanding of Massachusetts communities and the unique challenges older adults face here.
What makes us different starts with a personal mission. Owner Brent Auslander founded this location after witnessing his grandmother receive inadequate care. That experience drives our commitment to protecting senior dignity. We provide high quality care through experienced and trained caregivers (including CNA/HHA-certified professionals), accept Long Term Care Insurance, and create customized plans for each family member.
When daily activities become difficult, our compassionate caregivers provide hands-on assistance with activities of daily living in homes throughout Framingham and MetroWest. Our team of trained caregivers, which includes CNA and HHA professionals, delivers personal care tailored to your loved one’s needs, ensuring safety and comfort in your own home.
We customize every plan to match your comfort level and independence goals. From medication reminders to grooming and toileting assistance, our team works respectfully alongside you, preserving dignity while providing the support you need.
Memory loss creates unique challenges for families across Framingham and MetroWest. Our specialized dementia and Alzheimer’s care program provides trained caregivers who understand cognitive decline, behavioral changes, and the security needs that come with these conditions.
We focus on creating calm, familiar routines that reduce confusion and anxiety. Our team receives ongoing training in memory care techniques, fall prevention, and cognitive engagement. Families receive education too, helping everyone adapt to changing needs together. You’re in good hands with our dementia care specialists.
Maintaining a home becomes overwhelming as we age, especially during harsh New England winters. Our homemaker care services handle household tasks so you can focus on enjoying life in your MetroWest neighborhood without the wait for help.
From meal preparation to grocery shopping, we provide reliable assistance that keeps your home comfortable and safe. Light housekeeping, laundry, and transportation for errands are all services included. You control the schedule, from a few hours weekly to daily support.
Peace of mind comes from knowing someone is there around the clock. Our live-in care provides 24-hour supervision in the security and privacy of your own home, matched carefully by personality for compatibility. This non medical service delivers continuous support.
This cost-effective option provides constant companionship without the high price of nursing facilities. Your caregiver becomes a trusted presence available for overnight assistance, emergency response, and all daily needs while you maintain independence at home.
Loneliness can be as difficult as physical challenges. Our companion care services provide meaningful social interaction and emotional support, helping seniors stay connected and engaged in their MetroWest community during this difficult time.
Companionship includes conversation, accompanying you to doctor appointments and events, participating in activities you enjoy, and simply being present. We understand that after losing a spouse or when family lives far away, having someone to talk with makes all the difference in quality of life.
Comfort and dignity matter most during life’s final chapter. Our compassionate end-of-life care allows you to remain at home, surrounded by what you love, with 24-hour support available when you need it most.
We coordinate with hospice home health providers while offering personal care, respite care for family, and emotional support for patients and loved ones. Our trained caregivers understand this difficult time and provide gentle, respectful assistance that honors your wishes.
Coming home from the hospital can be confusing and overwhelming. Our transition care program prevents readmission by providing home care services during those critical first weeks after discharge, addressing your loved one’s needs completely.
We help with meals, schedule doctor appointments, provide transportation, and monitor your recovery. Communication with healthcare providers ensures everyone stays informed. This evidence-based program prevents elderly people from returning to the hospital.
Distance shouldn’t mean disconnection from a loved one’s care. Our proprietary Transparency Room portal gives families 24/7 access to schedules and real-time updates, perfect for adult children providing home care services coordination while working in Boston.
Monitor caregiver visits, review task completion, read daily notes, and receive voice messages. Invoice access and online payment make coordination simple. This technology provides peace of mind knowing your family member receives attentive care, creating security for families living across town or across the country.

We Serve:
My sister and I grew up with a father who was born in Germany and a mother born in the US. We enjoyed an active childhood with family trips to the mountains in the winter to ski and visits to the beach in Maine with my mother’s parents in the summer. In my early teen years, we also made trips to visit my father’s parents living in Florida. Growing up and being engaged with both sets of grandparents was such a gift. I always had been interested in healthcare and later worked in the medical diagnostic field. The products I sold helped to diagnose different types of sicknesses and were the first step in getting a patient back to health.
As I grew older, I watched my grandparents’ health decline, forcing them to move from their homes into assisted living facilities. I remember visiting with my father and his mother in a Florida facility where she wasn’t properly cared for hygienically. I couldn’t believe it and thought, how could this be? This memory stayed with me and motivated me to want to care for those in a vulnerable position and to safeguard their dignity and independence in the comfort and security of their own home. This led to the creation of Preferred Care at Home of MetroWest Boston. We want each elderly individual and family member to rest assured in our promise to deliver exceptional care with compassion, respect, and to be by your side, every step of the way.
Hear directly from families and caregivers about the impact of compassionate, personalized care.

Personal care and companion services generally cost less than skilled services. We offer free consultations to discuss your specific needs and provide transparent pricing. Our specialty in live-in care makes 24-hour support more affordable than most families expect. We accept Long Term Care Insurance, significantly reducing out-of-pocket costs for quality care.
We stand out through key advantages: personal mission-driven ownership protecting senior dignity after witnessing inadequate care firsthand, experienced and trained caregivers including CNA and HHA professionals with medical training, specialized Alzheimer’s care expertise with trained dementia specialists, bilingual support with English and Creole-speaking caregivers, Long Term Care Insurance acceptance for affordability, personality-based matching rather than availability, and Transparency Room technology for real-time family monitoring. Companion care focuses on social interaction, conversation, and accompaniment to activities. It’s ideal when your loved one is physically independent but needs emotional support and safety monitoring. Personal care includes hands-on assistance with bathing, dressing, and mobility. Choose personal care when help with daily living becomes necessary. During our free consultation, we’ll assess your loved one’s needs and recommend the right support. Many families start with companion care and add services as needs change.
We typically begin care within days of initial contact. Timeline depends on specific needs and caregiver availability. Our process includes consultation, care plan development, and caregiver matching, completed quickly. For urgent situations like hospital discharge, we prioritize immediate placement. Non-urgent requests usually start within 3 to 7 days. We’re committed to responsive service when families across MetroWest and Greater Boston need help, ensuring you don’t wait long for quality support.
Consider home care if you notice these signs: difficulty managing daily tasks like bathing or meal preparation, safety concerns about falls or medication errors, increased social isolation, recent hospitalization requiring recovery support, or family caregiver burnout. If winter weather makes you worry about a parent living alone, or if you’re managing care from Boston while working, it’s time to explore support. Our free consultation helps determine whether care would improve quality of life and health outcomes for your family.
We provide continuous monitoring and support throughout your care journey. Families access our Transparency Room portal for real-time updates on caregiver visits, notes, and task completion. Our team remains available 24/7 for urgent needs or concerns. We adjust care plans as needs change and guarantee caregiver consistency with minimal turnover. Our commitment is simple: “If you are not happy, neither are we!” We ensure complete satisfaction with every aspect of service.
Our team includes experienced and trained caregivers, including CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) and HHA (Home Health Aide) professionals. Every caregiver undergoes our comprehensive 7-step screening including background checks, reference verification, skills assessments, and personality evaluations. Those providing Alzheimer’s care receive specialized training in memory care approaches and behavioral management. We verify credentials and maintain ongoing quality monitoring to ensure the highest level of care for clients throughout MetroWest and Greater Boston.
