Meet the Team
Gary Knox
Donald Gary Knox is the owner of Preferred Care at Home® of Lansing. Our valued long-term clients recognize the name as his father Gary H. Knox who began the business in Mid-Michigan over a decade ago. Don is not new to the world of healthcare having spent nearly thirty years of his professional life managing physician practices prior to his ownership of Preferred Care at Home.
“ As a second-generation home care provider, my dad and I share the same compassion and commitment to helping others. I’ve spent my lifetime assisting and clearing obstacles for caregivers so that they may assist their patients in achieving the highest possible level of independence. This experience translates seamlessly into my role as owner of Preferred Care at Home.
As a medical practice manager, I’ve worked closely with the physicians, nurses, and medical assistants that we all rely upon to provide expert medical advice and assist in maintaining our health and independence. However, most people in the healthcare trenches recognize that the journey to health often has less to do with surgeries, imaging and laboratory work, and prescriptions and more to do with the simple things like food, warmth, exercise, rest, transportation, and companionship.
Preferred Care at Home protects the independence and dignity of each individual for whom we provide care. Simple things can mean the difference between a joyous celebration of life with those we love and the frustration of limited freedoms and institutional supervision. As the name implies, we know most families would prefer to provide care for their loved ones in the home whenever possible. I was thrilled to learn that with Preferred Care at Home home care is an affordable and reassuring option for families.
Compassion is the qualification upon which we hire. Most healthcare workers are attracted by the ability to help others, however we recognize some may eventually tire of constant need to provide help and some burnout, unless fed by an inner fire of compassion. That is among the reasons we select only experienced caregivers who are fully committed to helping you or your loved one over the long-term.
Preferred Care at Home® provides a proven system to provide reliable, compassionate, and affordable services to help seniors stay in their home or wherever they call home. That is our promise to you”.
About Preferred Care at Home of Lansing, MI
Senior Home Care Services in East Lansing, MI
My Story, My Promise
I’ve experienced the stress, frustration, and the inevitable fatigue that sets in as a family caregiver, because I took care of my mother as she aged and struggled with dementia. What I remember and appreciate the most during that time was the help of people who cared and knew what they were doing, because I remember it making a positive difference in my mother’s life.
When I started Preferred Care at Home of Lansing, my senior home care company based out of East Lansing, my goal was to help bring that same kind of positive difference to the lives of the seniors and their families here. I’ve never forgotten that goal, and it continues to drive me to this day. My name is Gary Knox, and I promise to care for your loved one as I would care for mine.
To Be Preferred
My home care company specializes in connecting families to vetted, compassionate, attentive, and affordable senior care professionals.
The vetting process is an extensive one, and it includes several interviews, a thorough background check, as well as reference and credential checks. Beyond that, I personally look for senior care professionals who have a calling and a heart for the vulnerable. I only work with people who want to be in home care and not just passing through.
Learn What is Missing
Many times, families do not know what is available in terms of senior home care services. There are many kinds of home care help you can benefit from, such as personal hygiene assistance, continence care, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s care and even housekeeping, meal preparation and incidental transportation.
Additionally, there are no minimum hours or long term commitments, as we are there for you only for as long as you need us. We can help you find and implement a wide range of non-medical home care services from 1 day a week or even 7 days a week; from 1 hour a day to 24 hours a day, including weekends and holidays.
Be sure to call and ask about the affordable 24 hour per day live-in service.
