MarQuietta & Mareio Lawson
MarQuietta realized that there was a need for home care services when Alabama’s seniors found themselves being hospitalized repeatedly. A knowledge deficit of their disease process played a role in this, but the fear of losing their independence and the thought of being a burden to their loved ones played a bigger role. Time is so precious and spending it with our seniors in the comfort of their own home, while receiving affordable, compassionate and reliable care is very special and rewarding. This is why MarQuietta and her husband Mareio took action.
Alabama residents and owners of Preferred Care at Home of South Alabama, MarQuietta and Mareio are a husband and wife team who have three beautiful daughters. Family is central to who they are and the care that they provide.
As owner and administrator, MarQuietta brings much experience to her role. She started her medical journey as a Certified Nurse Assistant. It all began with her love for helping people. This led her to becoming a Registered Nurse and working in the medical field for over 20 years. Throughout the years she has served as a Nursing Supervisor for Neurosurgery and Neurology, Medical-Surgical, Case Management, Internal Medicine, and Home Health experience. Her faith, passion, and commitment to helping people earned her the Daisy Award, which recognizes extraordinary nurses. This recognition is one of the most honorable and overwhelming moments in her nursing career and would not have been made possible without the support of her husband Mareio, her family and friends, and her faith and belief in God. Family, friends, and faith– it is what motivates and inspires her each and every day.
As a medical professional and the owner of Preferred Care at Home servicing Mobile, Baldwin, Monroe County and beyond, MarQuietta knows that asking for help is not easy and losing your independence may be your greatest fear. Preferred Care at Home understands and is committed to coming alongside you and your family providing the care you need when and where you need it. We are dedicated and committed to your health and happiness. Our family, serving your family with compassion and excellence–that’s our promise to you.

In-Home Senior Care Services in Mobile, AL
We know that every senior has distinct needs, so we offer a variety of in-home care services that are designed to meet a wide variety of needs. Learn how our loving and trained caregivers can provide active support so seniors can live comfortably and independently in their own homes. All our home health care services are inclusive of:
- Personal Care: We deliver dignified assistance with routine living services such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility. This type of care service is delivered by our professional caregivers, who are trained to do so with sensitivity and respect, such that the dignity of our clients is respected and they are comfortable.
- Homemaker Care: As people get older, it can often become progressively more difficult to maintain a home. Our homemakers assist with cooking, cleaning, laundry, and grocery shopping for families with loved ones struggling with these and other tasks you need help with. This also allows the seniors to focus on their health and enjoy their time without the nuisance of household chores.
- Companion Care: Loneliness and isolation can take a toll on the well-being of a senior. More than just hands, our companion care services are the heart that supports your loved one. Our caregivers also engage in in-depth conversations, accompany clients on walks or outings, play games, and provide a comforting presence, creating a sense of belonging, which helps reduce loneliness.
- Hospital-to-Home Care: Leaving the hospital to go home is a sensitive moment. Our hospital-to-home care services offer the right support so patients can recover smoothly at home. We help with medication reminders, follow-up appointments, light housekeeping, and personal care as seniors regain their strength and independence in a familiar environment.
- Live-in Care: Our live-in care solutions provide an all-around solution for seniors who need continuous support and companionship. A full-time caregiver lives with the client and can help them with everything they need, and that helps them feel at ease in the familiarity of their own home while receiving consistent, qualified care.
- Diabetes Care: Our caregivers have extensive experience providing reminders for medications, preparing diet-restricted meals, and monitoring blood sugar or encouraging compliance with behavior requirements and wonderful lifestyle choices, which are key to managing seniors’ diabetes and helping them avoid complications.
- Arthritis Care: The illness can cause pain and limit movement, making it hard to do simple things in life. Our caregivers are trained to offer personalized support based on the individual needs of seniors with arthritis. Documented care plans hint at this — help with mobility and gentle exercises, reminders to take medication, and a soothing, safe environment to reduce discomfort and encourage independence.
- Dementia and Alzheimer’s Care: And maybe most importantly of all, taking care of someone with dementia or Alzheimer’s requires a kind of knowledge and patience. When providing dementia and Alzheimer’s care, our caregivers are equipped with training to work with those presenting unique challenges. They create a safe place for someone with dementia to be, plan cognitive exercises, and provide emotional encouragement not only to the person with dementia but also to his or her family members.
