Experience the Difference of Truly Personalized Care

Most families tell us they chose Prefer Home because of how we match caregivers to their loved ones. We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all senior home care services. Our 7-step screening process includes thorough background checks, skills assessments, and reference verification to ensure every caregiver meets our standards for quality, compassion, and expertise.

We carefully match caregivers based on your loved one’s personality, specific needs, daily routines, and preferences. As needs evolve, we adjust the care plan and provide ongoing supervision to maintain the highest level of service. Our family-first approach means we’re always just a phone call away.

Local Owners Committed to Your Family

Amy Weiss

Amy understands the difficulty of finding reliable, compassionate care because she lived it. When her grandmother reached 90, facility support wasn’t enough. Finding trustworthy caregivers proved frustrating and exhausting. Years later, when Amy’s father required round-the-clock care, she faced the same struggle. Affordable, dependable professionals who genuinely cared felt nearly impossible to find. Those experiences changed everything. Now, as owner of Preferred Care at Home of Boca Delray and NPB, Amy’s focus is simple: helping your loved ones find the care she wishes had been easier to find for her own family.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are there any free or low-cost services that can help supplement home care?
Yes, many residents don’t realize how many community programs are available in the Boynton Beach FL area. These can include transportation assistance for seniors, meal delivery services like Meals on Wheels, home safety checks, and respite support for family members. These benefits can significantly reduce the overall cost of keeping loved ones safe at home. For step-by-step guidance on locating local, state, and nonprofit resources that can supplement your home care service, visit our guide on how to find free services.
Absolutely. We understand that navigating senior care can feel overwhelming, which is why we’ve created a comprehensive directory to help families. Our senior resource links page features reputable organizations, benefits programs, and community services related to care, safety, transportation, and financial support. It’s designed to be a one-stop hub for families in the Palm Beach County area seeking reliable information and assistance beyond our home care services.
Most families use a combination of payment methods to manage the cost of senior home care. Common options include private pay, long-term care insurance, VA benefits for eligible veterans, and state or local programs that support older adults aging in place. Some clients also use life insurance policies with living benefits. The good news is that home care is often more affordable than nursing homes or assisted living facilities. Our team helps families navigate these options and maximize available benefits. For detailed guidance on payment methods, eligibility requirements, and how we help families manage costs, visit our resource on ways to pay for home care.
Our professional caregivers undergo extensive background checks and training before ever stepping into a client’s home. We don’t just match based on availability; we consider personality, interests, and life experience to find caregivers who connect with your loved one. Many of our caregiver relationships last for years because we prioritize compatibility and continuity. We also provide ongoing supervision and support, so you’re never just working with a caregiver—you’re working with an entire team dedicated to your loved one’s wellbeing.

We understand that needs often arise suddenly, especially after a hospital discharge or health crisis. In many cases, we can have a caregiver in your home within 24 to 48 hours of your initial contact. Our team works efficiently to complete the consultation, develop a personalized care plan, and match you with the right professional caregiver quickly, without compromising on quality or safety.

Yes. While we provide thoughtful recommendations based on your loved one’s specific needs and personality, the final decision is always yours. We encourage you to meet potential caregivers before services begin, and if the match doesn’t feel right for any reason, we’ll find someone else. Your comfort and confidence in the caregiver are essential to successful senior care.

Life and health are unpredictable, and we plan for that. Your care plan isn’t set in stone. As your loved one experiences changes in physical health, cognitive function, or daily living abilities, we adjust services accordingly. Whether that means increasing hours, adding specialized dementia care, or incorporating new personal care tasks, we work closely with families to ensure the plan evolves with their needs. There’s never a penalty for adjusting services, and we’re always available to discuss changes.

Amy Weiss

Amy Weiss, the owner and administrator of Preferred Care at Home of Boca Delray and NPB, has always had an interest in bettering the lives of seniors. Like with many things in life, her first few experiences in home care was on the behalf of her family. Starting with her grandmother, who at the age of 90, needed to move into an assisted living facility.  Even with that support in place at the facility, it was clear that she needed the additional care and attention of a companion to help her navigate through her daily activities. She quickly realized that finding reliable caregivers was difficult. Later when Amy’s father needed round the clock care, she again felt the stress and difficulty of finding reliable, affordable, and compassionate care firsthand.

These experiences have made her and her agency particularly passionate about providing great care to the Boca Raton and Delray Beach communities.  She looks forward to doing everything she can to help your loved ones find the care and compassion that they deserve.
