Preferred Care at Home of Asheville
At the heart of Preferred Care at Home of Asheville is a family deeply connected by love, experience, and a shared mission to care for others. Lina and Hugo, lifelong partners and proud parents of Valentina, have walked the caregiving journey firsthand. Together with Valentina and her husband Isaac, they’ve turned their personal experiences with aging loved ones into a passion for providing compassionate, professional home care to their community. Their goal is simple: to help families find peace of mind and ensure that seniors can maintain their independence and dignity in the comfort of their own homes.
Lina grew up under the loving care of her grandparents, learning from an early age the importance of family support. Later, as her grandmother battled dementia, Lina witnessed how professional caregivers made it possible for her to stay at home while enjoying a high quality of life. Hugo’s caregiving journey began when his own mother developed dementia, balancing work with the emotional demands of supporting her—an experience that showed him the importance of reliable, compassionate care. Valentina and Isaac, inspired by these family experiences, built their careers in senior care, ensuring families can access personalized support from caregivers who genuinely care. Now, the four of them have brought these values to Asheville, determined to serve their neighbors with the same compassion they gave their own loved ones.
Preferred Care at Home of Asheville offers In-Home Aide Services and Companion, Sitter, and Respite Services designed to meet the unique needs of every senior. Whether it’s help with meal preparation, hygiene, medication reminders, or transportation, their caregivers focus on providing support that protects independence and enhances well-being. With deep roots in caregiving, this family-run agency is committed to becoming a cornerstone of strength in Asheville—offering not just services, but genuine care and peace of mind to families for years to come.

I was very blessed by God to have a loving family, great friends and a business that, although stressful, provided a good living but you had to put the time and effort. But helping and caring for our elderly, I know, will bring much satisfaction and fulfillment into my life.
We had the problem of caring for my mom when she was diagnosed with Dementia. Having a full time job didn’t leave much time to care for mom nor spending quality time with her. The needs were many; from dawn til dusk there were many things mom needed done such as: meal preparation, hygiene, meds, companionship and many other things that are part of daily living.
A few years ago, my daughter Valentina and her husband Isaac became part of the franchise PCAH of Fort Lauderdale, as time went by I could see the beautiful purpose of their franchise and could appreciate all the effort and what meant having reliable and compassionate caregivers to send them to their senior clients to improve their quality of life while safely protecting their independence and dignity.
Our purpose is to help seniors when they begin to present normal changes of age, offering them the best care they require in their particular case with the highest quality and love possible, making sure that the seniors maintain their independence by having a companion to help them with professionalism and compassion. Also in this way, we want to help family members to maintain their normal life without having to worry about their loved ones at all times.
We are able to do this by sending reliable and compassionate caregivers to the client’s home to provide a variety of services which include: meal preparation, hygiene assistance, homemaker services, transportation, medication reminders, and more.
We are so thankful to God that we made this career change because it is so rewarding and beautiful when you able to care for someone that really needs your help. It alters the way you think and your attitude towards people in a more unselfish way. We owe it to not just the seniors in our family but to all those that need love and compassion.

Out of four children, I was the only one raised by my grandparents, who were super loving and dedicated to their business. The most precious and beloved human beings in my life.
Over the years, my grandfather died and my grandmother was subsequently diagnosed with dementia. Despite the pain of watching her decline, we were blessed to see her grow old in her own home without losing her independence and without losing a good quality of life in her later years, because our family had the sense to hire compassionate professionals.
A few years ago when my father-in-law passed away, my mother-in-law was diagnosed with dementia, the family made the decision that my mother-in-law would live one week in the house of each one of us. The weeks that my mother-in-law was with us, a caregiver that we hired took care of her. On the other hand, my sisters-in-law decided that they themselves would be the ones to give her all the attention and care that her mother required, in the same way that their mommy took care of them when they were little girls. After almost 2 years and in spite of all the effort and love that was made, my sisters-in-law went through a level of emotional stress that was affecting them and their families.
A couple of years later, my husband and I found ourselves, genuinely, wanting to help parents and grandparents at home and their families
A few years ago, my daughter Valentina and her husband Isaac, purchased the franchise PCAH of Fort Lauderdale, and as time went by, I could see the beautiful purpose of their company and could appreciate all the effort that represents to have reliable and compassionate caregivers and to send them where the senior is living to improve their quality of life while safely protecting their independence and dignity.
Our purpose is to help seniors when they begin to present normal changes of age, offering them the best care they require in their particular case with the highest quality and love possible, seeking to respect that the senior maintains their independence by having a companion to help them with professionalism and compassion. Also in this way we want to help family members to maintain their normal life without having to worry about their loved one.
I am able to do this by sending reliable and compassionate caregivers to the client’s home to provide a variety of services which include: meal preparation, hygiene assistance, homemaker services, transportation, medication reminders, and more.
We are super grateful to God for allowing our family to work together with the goal that every day we are dedicated to the welfare of others.
