Shirley Baptiste Zwahl

Shirley Baptiste Zwahl is the Owner/Administrator of Preferred Care at Home of Virginia Beach, VA; serving the cities of Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, and Suffolk.

Shirley began her healthcare career in the U.S. Air Force. Over the course of 26 years, Shirley has filled a variety of roles, to include laboratory technologist, clinic administrator, and healthcare educator. After leaving active duty, she joined the Air National Guard and retired in 2010. Along the way, Shirley earned a Master’s degree in Health Science Administration.

Shirley has always been a compassionate person with the ability to connect with people of all ages, and from all walks of life. Shirley’s passion for providing reliable, quality home care stems from her own experiences trying to find good home care for several family members.

Shirley says, “The feeling of helplessness was completely overwhelming. Although I’ve worked in the healthcare industry my entire professional life, my family members and I found that navigating through the process of finding reliable, compassionate care can be extremely daunting. That’s when I decided I wanted to provide that reliable care so that other families did not have to experience what my family did. “

Shirley and her husband, John Zwahl, also an Air Force retiree, both value honesty and integrity, and will provide your loved one with care that is no less than we would provide to our own family.
