Our 24 hour home care services provide around-the-clock supervision and companionship in the security and privacy of your own home. Your caregivers, matched to you by personality along with life and work experience, are present day and night to provide professional, reliable and compassionate care.

In addition to quality care, we also guarantee continuity. You don’t have to worry about frequent changes in caregivers—having to get acquainted time and again. Central to our live-in care option is this commitment to consistency. And at Preferred Care at Home, where we strive to make our services accessible to everyone, live-in care is more affordable than you probably imagine.

Who Is Live-in Care Best For?

You may think of live-in care as being primarily for people who are bedridden. While it is an excellent solution for them, it’s also helpful for other people who want consistent aid. For example, our 24 hour home care is great for seniors who have:

  • Unsteadiness or a fear of falling.

Worrying about falling can lead to inactivity, which makes your muscles atrophy, which increases your risk for a fall! With live-in care, you always have someone there just in case, so you can feel confident to be as active as you can.

  • Loneliness or a fear of being alone.

No one should experience that empty feeling of loneliness. The compassionate heart of a Preferred Care at Home caregiver is an ever-present comfort.

  • Trouble remembering medication.

“Did you take your medicine today?” If that question’s been asked too many times, you should know that live-in care can eliminate that anxiety. Our quality caregivers will remind you when to take your medicine so dosages aren’t forgotten or repeated.

  • Memory loss, or signs of dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.

Memory deficiencies may creep in as we age. People with Alzheimer’s do best in a familiar environment. Most need extended hours of care in order to remain healthy and safe at home.

Live-in care services are also good for seniors who:

Want to avoid a revolving door of caregivers. Change can be stressful. Continuity is at the heart of our live-in care. As long as you’re happy and well taken care of, you’ll have the same caregiver by your side every step of the way.

Want to remain independent and in control of their care. With Preferred Care at Home’s live-in care, you’re the boss. You decide when and how you want things done.

Is Live-in Care Really Right for Me?

Still wondering whether live-in care is the choice for you? Here are answers to some common questions.

1. Can I afford 24 hour home care? Long-term care can certainly be costly. However, since 1984 the founders of Preferred Care at Home have built a reputation for offering quality services at affordable prices. Contact us to see which package works best for you.

2. What if I move or I already live in an assisted living community? If home is where you want to live, we can make that a reality. If you prefer to move into a facility, we can also provide any extra assistance you need. In essence, we come alongside you so home, or wherever you call home, is that safe place.

3. Will I like my caregivers? We match each caregiver to fit with your personality. We even look into life and work experience to make sure you two will get along swimmingly. A key aspect of our live-in care is quality interaction. After all, you have much to share with others. But of course, if you’re ever unhappy, we will promptly find a new person who fits your needs better.

If live-in care sounds like a good fit for you, contact us, and we’ll personally review all the details about how it works. We’ll even conduct a complimentary, no-obligation home assessment.

Jason Groth, Mike Barnhard, and Bob Mlynarek, proud owners of Preferred Care at Home of Clinton Township, Macomb, Grosse Pointe, and Eastern Oakland.

We are very proud and excited to have joined the Preferred Care at Home team.  As three professional firefighter/paramedics, we see the need and benefits of senior home care on a daily basis.  Nearly every shift on the fire department, we are called to help a senior in our community, who is having a little trouble living on their own.  We know it can be a trying experience finding the right home care agency.  That’s why we promise to provide quality, compassionate, and reliable in home care.

With real life family experience and over 35 years combined service in the emergency medical field, we are now in a position with Preferred Care at Home to make a positive difference for your family, and the one you are trying to care for.  We also understand that a seniors’ biggest concern is leaving the home where they built their memories.  We will do our best to work with you and keep your loved one where they want to be – in their home.

Working as partnership allows us to always be there for our clients.  With the support of our families, we have decided to offer our services right where we live, the Macomb County area.  We understand that your trust can only be earned with the best care for your loved one, when you are not able to be there.

About Preferred Care at Home of Macomb, Grosse Pointe and Eastern Oakland

We Care for Those You Care About

When caring for a loved one, no one should have to carry all the responsibility on his or her own. What you need are people around you who know what to do and how to get it done.

Preferred Care At Home of Macomb, Grosse Pointe and Eastern Oakland is owned and operated by the three of us, Bob, Mike and Jason. Together we have over 20 years of senior home care experience on top of the 35 years of service in the emergency medical field as firefighters. More than most, we understand the importance of teamwork, duty and accountability, which is why we only partner with those caregivers who have the same values.

Experienced Caregivers with a Calling

We refer only the most capable and experienced caregivers in the home care industry. All the senior care professionals we work with have at least one year of experience with an agency or facility, as well as outwardly show their love of caring for those in need. Their work defines them much like how our senior care service defines us in Macomb, Grosse Pointe and Eastern Oakland. We encourage this passion. We make it a point to nurture and grow this culture of caring.

What It Means To Be Preferred

Each referred caregiver is extensively vetted. It begins with a long phone interview, and it’s followed with a face-to-face interview involving wide-ranging scenario-based testing and questioning. Then, if they meet our criteria, we follow up with federal, state, and local background and criminal history checks. Finally, we verify work and personal references.

But our responsibility does not end there. We take everything we learned about the caregiver and we provide this information to our clients and their families and help them find the senior home care professional perfect for them.

Additionally, our case managers work closely with each family, caregiver, and medical professionals to establish and monitor the client’s care plan.

What You Can Expect from Every Referred Preferred Care at Home Caregiver:

Caregivers

  • Experienced and Trained
  • Passed a 7-Step Screening Process
  • Full Background Check
  • Insured and Bonded
  • Compatibility Guarantee
