Remember… We are told.\u00a0 Remember 9\/11…Never Forget… Remember the sacrifice, the tragedy, the lives lost. Remember the moment when everything changed. Remember the heartache, the pain, the horror.\u00a0 Can I be honest? I would like to forget. It seems easier to forget.<\/p>\n

We are living in times where the news of the day somehow continues to get worse and worse. It seems easier to turn it all off. The world feels heavy and often too much to bear. There is suffering individually as friends and family get sick, succumb to sickness, lose homes, and lose jobs. There is collective suffering, suffering we all feel. We experience it together–like the terror attacks of 9\/11. And now, again, as we watched the withdrawl from Afghanistan on the eve of the 20th anniversary of 9\/11.<\/p>\n

All this suffering is actually what calls us to remember and to press into the pain. As individuals and as a country we must remember.<\/p>\n

When it all seems too hard, why do we remember?<\/h2>\n

We remember…to honor<\/strong>. We remember to honor those who lost their lives and those who willingly stepped into harm’s way.<\/p>\n

We remember…for the children.<\/strong> We remember so future generations know our story and what shaped us.<\/p>\n

We remember…to stay empathetic.<\/strong> Our remembrance cannot lead to bitterness or anger, but rather allows us to be people who respond to the hurt of others with deep understanding.<\/p>\n

We remember…to change. <\/strong>We remember to adjust and make changes when necessary.<\/p>\n

We remember…for ourselves<\/strong>. Tragedy and pain shape us. Remembering helps us understand ourselves.<\/p>\n

We remember…for our country.\u00a0 <\/strong>We remember collectively and we grieve collectively. It’s a moment of unity in a world of conflict.<\/p>\n

And so, we remember; even when it’s hard, especially, when it’s hard.<\/p>\n

9\/11 Never Forget<\/h2>\n

8:46<\/b>: Flight 11 crashes into the north face of the North Tower (1 WTC) of the\u00a0World Trade Center.<\/p>\n

9:03<\/b>: Flight 175 crashes into the south face of the South Tower (2 WTC) of the World Trade Center.<\/p>\n

9:37<\/b>: Flight 77 crashes into the western side of\u00a0The Pentagon\u00a0and starts a violent fire.<\/p>\n

9:59<\/b>: The South Tower of the World Trade Center collapses, 56 minutes after the impact of Flight 175.<\/p>\n

10:03<\/b>: Flight 93 is crashed in Somerset County, Pennsylvania when brave passengers fought its hijackers.<\/p>\n

10:15<\/b>: Part of the Pentagon collapse.<\/p>\n

10:28<\/b>: The North Tower of the World Trade Center collapses, 1 hour and 42 minutes after the impact of Flight 11.<\/p>\n

5:20 p.m.<\/b>:\u00a07 World Trade Center, a 47-story building, collapses.<\/p>\n
