Dear Dedicated Nurses,<\/p>\n

This week is Nurses Week. A week set aside to acknowledge your commitment, care, and passion for your career. This year’s nurses week has new meaning in light of this pandemic and your daily sacrifice is at the forefront of the news and minds of the country. As a nurse, you are more than a medical professional you are an inspiration, a caring heart, and a diligent advocate. You are a hero– a scrub-wearing hero. I think we always knew this, but maybe it takes a global pandemic to bring the sacrifice you make on a daily basis into focus. You are on the front lines, in hospitals, assisted living facilities, and homes caring for the most vulnerable among us.<\/p>\n

We watch the news and read the reports of the positive COVID-19 test results, the hospitalizations, the intubations, and the deaths. And while we watch, you work. You suit up in whatever personal protective equipment that is available to you, even if it’s been worn for days, and you provide the care that is desperately needed. You are dedicated–dedicated to your calling as a nurse<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Staying home is not an option for you. We’ve all seen the pictures across social media, the healthcare workers holding up signs “We come into work for you, stay home for us”. We are all doing our part to slow the spread and save lives. We may be socially distant, but our hearts are with you as you fight this disease. We pray that in this season of stress, fear, and even loneliness, that you will feel the support of your family, friends, and community, even from a distance.<\/p>\n

Words may fail us in this season, but it is all we have to give: we are thankful for you, we are with you, and we pray for you.<\/p>\n
