Franchise owners from <a href=\"https:\/\/preferhome.com\/locations\/locations\/\">across the nation<\/a> gathered to encourage one another and look for new ways to serve their communities. Perhaps, the most enjoyable part of the whole event was the session dedicated to the caregivers.<\/p>\n<p>Five caregivers, who had received the local award of Caregiver of the Year, were finalists for the National Caregiver of the Year award.\u00a0 Not a dry eye was left in the room as their stories made it clear that they were the real heroes. Their commitment to the seniors they cared for went above any job description.<\/p>\n<p>The Preferred Care at Home caregivers recognized included, June Condell from Alaska, Debbie Hein from Macomb County, Michigan, Desiree Arnold from Oakland County, Michigan, Barbara Burchett from Northwest Louisiana, and Torri Palazzo from South Palm Beach County, Florida.<\/p>\n<p>One family member wrote of Debbie Hein from Macomb County, Michigan, &#8220;Debbie Hein has a special gift that cannot be taught in any classroom or attached to any piece of parchment claiming to \u201ccertify\u201d that a human being is capable and equipped to care for, to love and to identify and attend to the needs of a patient. Debbie is an angel. You just can\u2019t see her wings on earth.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Often, one of the scariest parts of starting home care is inviting someone you don&#8217;t know to come into your home.
