This week, I had the opportunity to visit a client who has been on the long road to recovery. Our journey with Ms. Smith* began four months ago and has included three major surgeries, a month in a hospital, 33 days in a rehabilitation facility, and now she is finally in the home she loves.<\/p>\n

“Look!” Ms. Smith said, as she pushed herself up from her chair and walked around her living room. This was no small feat for this feisty 85 year old who four months ago was not able to walk on her own. Next to her, her loyal caregiver Terry* beamed with pride and reiterated how far Ms. Smith had come.<\/p>\n

“I couldn’t have done it without her,” said Ms. Smith. You see, Terry has been by Ms. Smith’s side every step of the way. Through the hospital stay, rehab stay and finally in her home again, through the ups and the downs, Terry and our team of compassionate caregivers were there.<\/p>\n

The relationship between Ms. Smith and Terry represents what we strive to achieve with every client and caregiver relationship. We have seen firsthand the difference a compassionate and trained caregiver can make in the lives of the seniors we care for. It’s a relationship that is meant to foster independence and promote dignity not just complete a list of tasks. Compassion is what makes all the difference and you can feel that difference when you walk into Ms. Smith’s home.<\/p>\n
