“What is fundamentally beautiful is compassion for yourself and for those around you. That kind of beauty enflames the heart and enchants the soul.”<\/em> This quote comes from the end of a speech given by Best Supporting Actress Oscar winner Lupita Nyong\u2019o for her role in 12 Years a Slave. Before she received her Oscar, she gave a speech at the seventh annual Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon hosted by Essence magazine. In that speech, Lupita spoke eloquently about what is truly beautiful in a person: compassion.<\/p>\n

I have the honor of seeing this beauty in our compassionate caregivers. Their compassion for the senior clients and families <\/a>we serve is a driving force in the quality of the care we provide day in and day out. Their commitment to the person they provide care for, and not just to the completion of tasks, is truly beautiful. It is a kind of beauty that “enflames the heart and enchants the soul” of the senior we have the privilege of serving. Compassion makes all the difference. It elevates a list of tasks to heartfelt care.<\/p>\n

The beauty of our caregivers have incredible impact on our senior clients. I have seen our caregivers bring life and joy to a room and lift spirits on a daily basis. Our process of finding these caregivers includes looking for that inner beauty. All of our caregivers go through an extensive 7-step screening process<\/a>, but it is the inner beauty of compassion that stands out. We believe that compassion is not a characteristic that can be taught, it is part of who a person is.\u00a0 As Lupita says, compassion for those around you is “fundamentally beautiful”.<\/p>\n
