It may hit home with you if you have elderly parents.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s about a woman, played by Maura Tierney (of <em>ER<\/em> fame), who\u2019s dealing with her aging parents and their increasing frailty. As Mary Gustafson at <em>McKnight\u2019s Long-Term Care News<\/em> points out, it\u2019s a professionally produced series with top-notch actors. Here\u2019s her take on one of these family-caregiving videos:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">The first installment, which was only seven minutes long, portrayed a scene that I suspect most nursing home residents and their families would recognize right away. Tierney&#8217;s character, Erica, confronts her elderly mother about continually allowing Erica&#8217;s father (Hall) to drive, despite his having fallen asleep at a stop sign. Ruth (Smith) can&#8217;t bear the indignity of taking her husband&#8217;s keys away. Nor can she admit that his progressive dementia has changed anything in their previously comfortable lives.<\/p>\n<p>Gustafson is interested to see whether and how the show will portray nursing homes. We\u2019re interested to see whether an in-home caregiver will come into the picture. It looks like the mother could already use some help; Tierney\u2019s character finds spoiled food in her refrigerator\u2014one of the telltale <a href=\"https:\/\/preferhome.com\/locations\/senior-resources\/common-senior-concerns\/quiz-do-you-need-in-home-senior-care\/\">signs that it might be time to bring in aid<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>You can watch the first episode, which is seven-and-a-half minutes long, below. The series also stars Lois Smith, Philip Baker Hall, Michael C. Hall, and Steven Weber. What do you think?
