-providing extra security measures such as posting notes to serve as reminders (e.g. turn stove off)<\/p>\n

-keeping the environment familiar e.g. don\u2019t move furniture around<\/p>\n

-establish and maintain a regular daily routine<\/p>\n

-keeping the client oriented. (e.g clock, calendar, radio, night light)<\/p>\n

Dementia Care: \u00a0How to evaluate for home for safety and take corrective actions<\/h3>\n

-removing scatter rugs<\/p>\n

-storing household cleaners and harmful substances in a safe place<\/p>\n

-removing sharp & breakable objects from the environment<\/p>\n

-using plastic eating and drinking utensils<\/p>\n

-provide structure and routine<\/p>\n

-schedule low-stress activities<\/p>\n

-speak slowly and clearly to facilitate their understanding of what is being said<\/p>\n

-provide simple explanations on everything said<\/p>\n

-research community resources which will benefit the client<\/p>\n

-encourage them to share their memories, as long as they can recall them<\/p>\n

-plan physical activities, as they will offset disruptive behavior<\/p>\n

-encourage mental activities (e.g. reading, crafts, keeping abreast with current events)<\/p>\n

-provide the client\u2019s basic needs<\/p>\n
