Local Owners Committed to Your Family

Amy Weiss

Amy understands the difficulty of finding reliable, compassionate care because she lived it. When her grandmother reached 90, facility support wasn’t enough. Finding trustworthy caregivers proved frustrating and exhausting. Years later, when Amy’s father required round-the-clock care, she faced the same struggle. Affordable, dependable professionals who genuinely cared felt nearly impossible to find. Those experiences changed everything. Now, as owner of Preferred Care at Home of Boca Delray and NPB, Amy’s focus is simple: helping your loved ones find the care she wishes had been easier to find for her own family.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does in-home care cost in Boca Raton?

In-home care service costs in Boca Raton, FL, vary based on the level of assistance required and the number of service hours. Companion and Homemaker Care for several hours weekly costs less than 24-hour live-in support. We start with low rates and no long-term commitments, offering flexibility that fits your budget. Contact us for personalized quotes, and we’ll discuss payment options, including private insurance, veterans benefits, and long-term care coverage that may apply.

Three factors set us apart: our third-generation family legacy, complete transparency through Family Room technology, and a client-centered philosophy. We’re not a corporate chain but a family-run agency that treats every senior like a relative. Our online portal provides family members with real-time access to care updates, caregiver notes, and scheduling information. Plus, Amy lives in the community and personally oversees quality. This isn’t distant management. It’s neighbors caring for neighbors with genuine passion.

It depends on your loved one’s current abilities and home care needs. Companion and Homemaker Care focuses on social engagement, meal preparation, medication reminders, and light housekeeping. It works well for older adults who are physically capable but need emotional support and household assistance. Personal care adds hands-on help with bathing, dressing, personal hygiene, and mobility. Many families begin with companion services and add personal care as daily tasks become more challenging. We’ll assess the right fit during consultation.

We typically start services within 24 to 48 hours after your assessment, depending on caregiver availability and the complexity of your unique needs. The process begins with a free phone consultation, followed by an in-home visit where we meet your loved one, understand their routine, and develop personalized care plans. We prioritize careful matching over rushing because the right caregiver relationship makes a positive difference in outcomes and satisfaction.
Watch for missed medications, weight loss from inadequate meal preparation, declining personal hygiene, a cluttered home from neglected light housekeeping, or withdrawal from activities they previously enjoyed. If you’re calling multiple times daily for check-ins, constantly worried about falls, or seeing your own health suffer from caregiver stress, those signals indicate that support would help. Our free assessment evaluates whether it’s time for professional care.

Yes. Our specialized care team receives training in memory support techniques, behavioral management, and safety protocols specific to cognitive decline. They understand how to redirect anxiety, create consistent daily routines that provide security, and engage clients in meaningful activities that stimulate well-being. Preferred Care at Home has supported hundreds of families nationwide dealing with Alzheimer’s, and we bring that expertise to every Palm Beach County family facing memory challenges.

Absolutely. Our Smooth-Transition Care program addresses post-hospitalization needs by coordinating home health aides who manage medications, schedule follow-up appointments, and monitor recovery progress. You receive a Personal Health Record for tracking medications, symptoms, and physician instructions, plus access to our Family Room portal for real-time updates. This program helps prevent hospital readmissions, affecting one in five Medicare patients in Florida.
Compatibility drives our matching process, so we invest heavily in understanding personality and preferences from the outset. But if the relationship isn’t working, tell us immediately. We’ll promptly connect you with a different caregiver whose personality and experience better fit your unique needs, no questions asked, no frustration. Your loved one’s comfort and happiness are the priority, and that means flexibility when chemistry needs adjustment.
Medicare covers skilled nursing and home health care services under specific conditions, but typically doesn’t cover non-medical personal care or companion services. However, alternatives exist: veterans may qualify for Aid and Attendance benefits, some private insurance plans include home care coverage, and long-term care insurance often applies. We help families understand options and connect with resources to make quality home care accessible and affordable.
Every caregiver completes background checks, reference verification, and thorough interview processes before we make referrals. We recruit only the most qualified professionals who demonstrate genuine compassion for elderly people. Then we provide ongoing training and conduct regular quality checks. Families access our Family Room portal to monitor care services in real time. If a caregiver ever fails our highest quality standards, we address it immediately and make changes to ensure exceptional care continues.

Meet the Team

Amy Weiss, Kim West, Holly Weiss, Len Weiss

A woman in a black shirt stands before trees, symbolizing her journey to improve access to compassionate caregiving services.

Amy Weiss

Amy Weiss, the owner and administrator of Preferred Care at Home of Boca Delray and NPB, has always had an interest in bettering the lives of seniors. Like with many things in life, her first few experiences in home care was on the behalf of her family. Starting with her grandmother, who at the age of 90, needed to move into an assisted living facility.  Even with that support in place at the facility, it was clear that she needed the additional care and attention of a companion to help her navigate through her daily activities. She quickly realized that finding reliable caregivers was difficult. Later when Amy’s father needed round the clock care, she again felt the stress and difficulty of finding reliable, affordable, and compassionate care firsthand.

These experiences have made her and her agency particularly passionate about providing great care to the Boca Raton and Delray Beach communities.  She looks forward to doing everything she can to help your loved ones find the care and compassion that they deserve.
