You leave for Boston before your mom is fully awake, and by the time you pull back into Holliston, she has missed lunch, skipped a pill, and waited all day for company. Patching together a friend, a neighbor, and a weekend visit gets harder, not easier. Preferred Care at Home brings personal care, companionship, homemaker help, dementia support, respite, transition care, and live-in home care from one local team serving families in their own home. Our local Framingham office serves Holliston families with CNA- and HHA-certified caregivers, bilingual English/Creole care, and personality-first matching — not just availability.
Preferred Care at Home is the MetroWest Boston franchise of a family business founded in 1984. Our office is in Framingham, serving Holliston and the towns around it. Caregivers hold CNA or HHA certifications, and Long Term Care Insurance is accepted.

Caregivers are matched by personality, not just availability. Bilingual English and Creole caregivers are available, and every caregiver clears our 7-step screening, including a background check. We are locally owned and operated, with customized plans that adjust as circumstances change and an online portal that lets family review visits and notes from anywhere. Our goal is helping older adults live independently at home for as long as possible.
We schedule visits around your workday from 1 hour to overnight, covering meals, errands, and transportation through Companion and Homemaker support.
Caregivers help with bathing, transfers, and mobility to prevent falls, and a live-in caregiver can stay overnight when the home isn’t safe alone.
We start care within days, with no income test and customized hours, so Personal, Companion, or Homemaker help arrives when you actually need it.
We explain what private-pay covers and where Medicare home health and hospice fit, before you commit to Personal, Companion, or Transition Care.
Transition Care covers reminders, rides, and recovery routines from day one; Personal Care continues if mobility stays limited.
We start with a few hours a week and scale up; early Companion or Homemaker support often delays the need for live-in or dementia care.
Step 01
You call and we listen. No script, just questions that fit your family’s situation and the specific needs you’re facing.
Step 02
A care manager visits to walk through the home and understand the daily routine, building customized plans around what we learn together.
Step 03
We pair your loved one with a caregiver by personality, language, and care needs. Background checked caregivers meet your family before regular visits begin.
Step 04
Visits begin within days, with family access to schedules, notes, and updates online so taking care of your loved one becomes a shared effort.
Celebrating life, dignity and independence.®
Since 1984, the founders of Preferred Care at Home have had the privilege of assisting clients in improving their quality of life while still recognizing and maintaining their dignity and independence. Preferred Care at Home has continued this tradition by only referring the most reliable, compassionate, experienced and affordable caregivers to client’s homes or care facilities.
We understand that long-term care can be costly, which is why we have focused on building a reputation of offering access to quality services at affordable prices.
Ask about the wide range of non-medical services available from 1 to 24 hours per day, and about qualified live-in caregivers who can provide 24-hour peace of mind for you or your loved one.
We Serve:
My sister and I grew up with a father who was born in Germany and a mother born in the US. We enjoyed an active childhood with family trips to the mountains in the winter to ski and visits to the beach in Maine with my mother’s parents in the summer. In my early teen years, we also made trips to visit my father’s parents living in Florida. Growing up and being engaged with both sets of grandparents was such a gift. I always had been interested in healthcare and later worked in the medical diagnostic field. The products I sold helped to diagnose different types of sicknesses and were the first step in getting a patient back to health.
As I grew older, I watched my grandparents’ health decline, forcing them to move from their homes into assisted living facilities. I remember visiting with my father and his mother in a Florida facility where she wasn’t properly cared for hygienically. I couldn’t believe it and thought, how could this be? This memory stayed with me and motivated me to want to care for those in a vulnerable position and to safeguard their dignity and independence in the comfort and security of their own home. This led to the creation of Preferred Care at Home of MetroWest Boston. We want each elderly individual and family member to rest assured in our promise to deliver exceptional care with compassion, respect, and to be by your side, every step of the way.

Companion care is hands-off support like company, errands, and meals. Personal care is hands-on help with bathing, dressing, and mobility.
Hourly rates vary based on the type of care, the schedule, and whether visits are companion-level or hands-on personal care.
Often yes. Supervision, routine, and trained caregivers at home can delay or prevent a memory care facility move.
