Why Choose Us for In-Home Care in Framingham

Preferred Care at Home has helped families since 1984. The MetroWest Boston franchise is locally owned and operated by Brent Auslander from 945 Concord St in Framingham, with service across Framingham, the surrounding region, and Greater Boston neighborhoods. Compassionate caregivers carry CNA or HHA certification, verified before assignment. We accept Long Term Care Insurance to keep care affordable for families across the MetroWest area.

We match caregivers by personality, not by who happens to be open on the schedule. Bilingual English and Creole caregivers serve households who prefer Creole at home, which matters in this community. Brent founded the franchise after watching his grandmother receive inadequate facility care, and that story shapes how the team trains. Massachusetts CORI background checks and registry screening are verified for every caregiver. Call (508) 375-7174 to start.

Experience the Difference of Truly Personalized Care

Quality in-home care begins with the right caregiver match. Brent Auslander oversees every case personally — from the first call to caregiver placement. Caregivers clear our 7-step screening process (CNA or HHA certification, Massachusetts CORI background checks, registry screening verified), then are matched on personality, experience, and language preference — English or Creole — for families in Framingham, Natick, Hopkinton, Holliston, Ashland, Sherborn, Sudbury, Wellesley, and across the broader MetroWest area. That continuity matters most when adult children commute to Boston while a parent declines at home.

Common Challenges Framingham Families Face With Aging at Home

Safety at Home & Fall Prevention

Multi-story Framingham homes were built for younger residents, not aging ones. Stairs become a fall risk, bathrooms get dangerous, and elderly parents quietly stop using whole sections of the home rather than ask. Our caregivers handle bathing assistance, mobility, and transfers, plus live-in care for overnight safety when fall risk runs high.

Medication Reminders

Caregivers handle medication reminders, schedule and ride to follow-up doctor appointments, and watch for warning signs during recovery — especially during the first weeks home after a hospital stay at MetroWest Medical Center or a Boston-area facility, when readmission risk runs highest.

Loneliness & Social Isolation

Companion Care provides conversation, social engagement, and accompaniment to doctor appointments for an elderly person who is physically capable but lonely or recently widowed. It often comes up after a spouse passes and the house gets too quiet across Framingham and the MetroWest neighborhoods nearby.

Transportation & Errands

Caregivers drive your loved one to appointments, the pharmacy, religious services, and small outings across Framingham, Natick, Sudbury, Wellesley, Newton, and the broader MetroWest area — or down to Boston for a cardiology appointment with prescriptions picked up on the way home.

Respite Care for Family Caregivers

Homemaker and Respite Care covers meal preparation, grocery shopping, light housekeeping, and laundry, plus real time off for the family member who has been carrying everything alone. Respite blocks can be a few hours so you can sleep, or longer stretches so you can travel without worry.

Meal Planning and Nutrition

Caregivers prepare meals, plan and shop for groceries, and handle light housekeeping and laundry. The home stays a place your loved one is proud of, with familiar surroundings and the daily routines that hold a household together — whether the kitchen is in Framingham, Wellesley, or Sudbury.

How Our Home Care Process Works in Framingham

Step 01

Initial Contact

Call (508) 375-7174 or message us. We book a time to talk that fits your schedule, with no pressure to commit. Tell us what’s going on at home in Framingham — not a call center, a local team.

Step 02

Consultation and Assessment

We meet with you and your family to understand the situation in your Framingham home, your loved one’s specific needs, and what daily life actually looks like. No obligation. From there, we build a customized care plan around your loved one’s specific needs, the hours that fit, and the services included.

Step 03

Caregiver Matched by Personality

We match a caregiver by personality, experience, and language preference — English or Creole — so the fit feels right from day one. Every caregiver clears our 7-step screening with CNA or HHA certification verified, plus Massachusetts CORI background checks and registry screening.

Step 04

Care Begins with Ongoing Monitoring

Care starts on the agreed date. The Transparency Room portal lets you see schedule updates and caregiver notes from anywhere, with regular check-ins from our team and Brent’s direct involvement. The plan adjusts as the situation changes, with no long-term contracts.

Meet Our Owner

Brent Auslander

Brent Auslander

My sister and I grew up with a father who was born in Germany and a mother born in the US. We enjoyed an active childhood with family trips to the mountains in the winter to ski and visits to the beach in Maine with my mother’s parents in the summer. In my early teen years, we also made trips to visit my father’s parents living in Florida. Growing up and being engaged with both sets of grandparents was such a gift. I always had been interested in healthcare and later worked in the medical diagnostic field. The products I sold helped to diagnose different types of sicknesses and were the first step in getting a patient back to health.

As I grew older, I watched my grandparents’ health decline, forcing them to move from their homes into assisted living facilities. I remember visiting with my father and his mother in a Florida facility where she wasn’t properly cared for hygienically. I couldn’t believe it and thought, how could this be? This memory stayed with me and motivated me to want to care for those in a vulnerable position and to safeguard their dignity and independence in the comfort and security of their own home. This led to the creation of Preferred Care at Home of MetroWest Boston. We want each elderly individual and family member to rest assured in our promise to deliver exceptional care with compassion, respect, and to be by your side, every step of the way.

Companion and homemaker care covers errands, meals, housekeeping, and social engagement; personal care covers hands-on help with bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility. The line falls on what your loved one needs help with. If conversation, rides to doctor appointments, grocery shopping, and meal preparation are the gap, companion and homemaker services fit. If hygiene, transfers, and other activities of daily living are the issue, personal care is the right call. Many MetroWest families start with one and add the other later.

Yes, our caregivers are trained in dementia behavior support, routine continuity, and cognitive engagement for families across MetroWest. Specialized memory care covers wandering risk, repetitive questions, sundowning, and the behavior changes that come with progression. Family members also get coaching on what to expect and how to respond. Care can be a few hours a day for a spouse who needs respite, or live-in care when supervision has to be constant.

All caregivers carry CNA or HHA certification and pass our 7-step screening, which includes background checks and reference verification. Skills assessments, interviews, and personality matching round out the process.

Yes, Preferred Care at Home accepts Long Term Care Insurance and our team helps with documentation and billing coordination. LTC insurance can offset a meaningful share of in-home care costs, but families often hesitate to file because the paperwork feels overwhelming. We walk you through what your policy covers, what documentation the carrier needs, and how visits get logged for reimbursement.
