Meet The Owner, Stephanie Saunders
Stephanie, a registered nurse of nearly 20 years, has seen the tremendous impact that the demands and responsibilities of caring for a vulnerable family member or friend can have on the family unit as well as the emotional or physical decline of the caregivers themselves. When working in the nursing home, it was not uncommon to hear the family members express guilt for putting mom in the nursing home or to see the sadness in their faces when they left. When working in the emergency room, I would often see unnecessary falls, medication induced complications and sometimes overhear conversations about “who is going to take care of Grandpa while Grandma is in the hospital”. It often frustrated me that I could not help these people beyond what I was doing in my role as the nurse in these situations.
I know that most caregivers find it to be very rewarding and that most family members do much better by staying in their own homes. So I pondered ways that I could help ease the emotional, physical and financial burden on these families and offer assistance to maintain a balance that is beneficial for all involved. I knew there was home care out there but I had such high expectations for myself and others that I was at a loss as to what steps to take.
Upon doing due diligence on this industry I knew that I wanted to partner with not only a reputable organization but with a company that led with their hearts, not their pocketbooks. One organization stood out above the rest. Preferred Care At Home. When I met with the owners: Jody & Frank Guerrieri, I instantly knew that they were different from all of the other companies that I interviewed. I soon realized my core values and beliefs paralleled that of Frank and Jody’s and I wanted the opportunity to work closely and learn from their 26 years of commitment and excellence in this industry.
I am humbled at the opportunity to represent Preferred Care At Home, but more importantly, serve our community and their loved ones celebrating life, dignity and independence.
