Twenty-four years ago I began a journey that has taken me to where I am today. That journey has included the building from the ground up of numerous home health care agencies. Each and every one of these organizations were replicas of each other. The most important characteristic of these home health care companies is that they were all highly profitable.
Interesting as it may be, although success is measured by the so called bottom line, the desire to make a difference in the life of those who are ailing, elderly, or simply needing that little extra assistance to remain at home, became the driving force and financial success the by-product.
The golden rule, simply stated, says to treat others as you would like to be treated. That has been a simple and yet all-important philosophy I have always lived by. Our company Preferred Care at Home® demands this from all of their employees, caregivers, and franchise owners.

Myrtle’s Story
When I first arrived at Myrtle’s home, I noticed a very sad frail aging lady. After inviting me to take a seat next to her, she poured out her heart. Just three months earlier her husband had died suddenly and her family, who lived out of state, were attempting to persuade her to move into a nursing home.
Myrtle was quick to draw my attention to the photographs on the wall of her husband, children, grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren. As she spoke of her photographs, I could see tears welling up in her eyes. Myrtle wanted desperately to remain at home.
